Hello my fellow scrappers :)

This is our 3rd INSPIRATION : TUESDAY and I've been happier than ever to share news ideas, techniques, tips and such on this blog :) For those of you who speak French, you can follow the instructions in french on my french blog :)

This week, I've been working on another mini album (I have to admit that I've been on vacation and I had this urgent NEED every now and then to SCRAP! and as I have time to do whatever I want - quite a luxury for me - I've been scrapping like mad!) but thistime, the theme is pretty much different : scrapbook these little moments of just ONE DAY in your life.

We tend to scrapbook those unique moments really important in our lives, like weddings, births, birthdays, honey moons, travels, and more, but what about the EVERYDAY? What about those little things that we accomplish everyday to make our lives more beautiful, more special? Why shouldn't we dedicate a mini album to the little everyday life things?

Yes, of course, you're going to carry around your camera all day, taking pictures of everything and anything, of things that will appear useless and stupid to you as you do it everyday, but, by the fact that you're going to pay more attention to those "details" and photograph them, this day will be a day you'll remember :)

In your everyday life, there are those little things that make our lives special : the alarm clock ringing, the kids getting up and running around the house at 5am like tornados, little toes hitting the edge of the kitchen door, spilled coffee on the table, the bus that you just missed, but there are also those lovely little things like morning hugs, sweet messages left on the kitchen table by your dear husband, the perfume of those we love, and way more than that...

Try to think about those things that matter in your day. You'll see, it'll be worth it.

For this new mini album, I used the brand new Sassafras papers!YUMMY! there are just amazingly colorful, I just love them!

I chose to work with only 7 photos to illustrate my whole day : feel free to use as many as you want, of course.

So here is the supply list first for my TODAY : 05-08-09 mini album, then we can start having fun!

  • Structure : TWO 4x6" pieces of cardboard ; TWO 4x6" pieces of cardstock
  • Papers : Sassafras, Hambly
  • Polka dot felt : Creative Café
  • Embellishments : Stickers (7gypsies, American Crafts, October Afternoon); Rubons (Hambly); Alphas (American Crafts, Making Memories, Kési'art); Buttons (Jenni Bowlin); Labels (Jenni Bowlin); Paper flowers (Sassafras); twine (Studio Calico); Vénilia adhesive paper.

How to build the mini album. Time of "cooking" : 5-10 minutes.

First of all, put your two pieces of cardboard on your desk, the small sides front to front and leave at least 1 inch between each cardstock piece.

Put a 3x4" piece of felt on your pieces of cardboard that you will glue with double sided tape. Do the same thing in the inside in order to make the spine of your booklet thicker and stronger (nonetheless you will have to glue your pattern paper to the inside page of your cover if you wish the felt to cover the paper).

For the inner pages, fold two 4x12" pieces of cardstock in half.

Glue all of your papers and all of your photos : YES! You read well! Don't be scared! We glue everything down, we try to coordinate each pattern with one another, then you add a stripe of Venilia paper on the spine of the folded piece of cardstock in order to make it thicker.

To bind your album, use a crop-a-dile (I couldn't live without mine, really!) and punch with the smaller hole TWO HOLES on the spine of the cardstock.

Put the inner pages inside the cover, centered on the felt : that way, you will know where to make the holes in the felt to bind your album. Use a black pen to mark the holes and punch with your crop-a-dile.

Use that beautiful twine that I bought from Studio Calico and make simple knots to bind your album.

Your mini album is ready to be embellished now! Let's have some fun!

1st step : I love Venilia paper (in France, it's a kind of thick adhesive paper that you use to cover boards, wooden tables in kitchens and stuff, and you can find so many patterns! I am just in love with the wooden patterns).

Add Venilia adhesive paper on both the front and back covers of your mini album. Hand cut the blue Hambly paper with a scallopped edge and add some stickers, rubons and your title to finish the cover.

2nd step : For this page, I simply glued this beautiful Sassafras paper (new collection!), added a bit of journaling on kraft paper, my title with those amazing Making Memories wooden letter and one Jenni Bowlin chipboard button. Keep the design simple for your first page, you don't want to have an overwhelming page to begin with.

3rd step : yeaaaaaah alright, I know... I'm so NOT a morning person! :D well, I'm not an evening person either! LOL So yeah, mornings :D

For this page, I glue some Hambly paper, I cut a Jenni Bowlin label in half to write my journaling, some stickers and my title.

I have to say that this picture was REALLY taken when I woke up! LOL

4th step : a censored page! LOL yeah it's SHOWER TIME! ;) I used Sassafras paper, a beautiful Hambly rubon, some stickers, a Sassafras flower, a Kési'art alpha and there you go...

5th step : I check my emails every morning. Use a scallopped punch and a round punch to contrast with the background paper, add some stickers and your title for this page.

The picture is a photo of my iMac's wallpaper screen :)

6th step : I don't bite promise :) It's just that, that day, I wasn't inspired at all, really... and Im kind of pissed when I don't feel inspired :)

7th step : get lunch ready. A very simple design for this page as just stickers and my title enbellish the page.

Important : don't forget to add the TIME you make this and that during the day :)

8th step : Send all the new issues of {entreARTistes}magazine to the post office.

I used the other half of the Hambly rubon here to contrast with the very bright page I have here. The bamboo letters match perfectly with the color scheme here.

9th step : Scrap time at last. Don't hesitate to add stickers on top of your picture, in order to cut the lines a bit.

10th step : we eat the left-over food as i cooked for at least 12 people at lunch time :D

I wanted to match the colors here so I simply used my orange alphas to match my background paper colors.

11th step : SLEEP TIME. Write a little of journaling here, about funny things you did that day :)

I hope you enjoyed this mini album! Seriously, you guys need to WORK on a daily journal like this, it's so much fun and would help you record "normal" days...

Feel free to leave comments, questions, ideas of things you'd like to see here... I'm more than open to any of your concerns :)

Love and see you soon!
