INSTRUCTIONS

This layout will be all about dry embossing and watercolor! We will use the fun background of a patterned paper as a starting point for designing our layout and not only it will be fun but also fast!

This background inspired me the minute I saw it! I thought it would be super interesting to use the design and add extra texture with dry embossing and watercolor. Let's get started!

1. DRY EMBOSS THREE 4x6 PIECES OF CARDSTOCK

I usually always use white cardstock to dry emboss my paper. What I usually do is place my embossing folder on the paper and cut around it so that I don't waste any paper.

Once you have embossed three pieces (you can use three different patterns or just one - up to you!), grab your brush and your gesso and add a thin layer all over the embossed side.

Then choose three different colors of watercolor.

2. MIST WATER

Once the gesso is dry, simply mist some water all over the embossed papers and grab your watercolor brush : randomly apply some color, from the lightest to the darkest one!

When finished, let dry. If you wish to use a heat gun to make it dry faster, be careful as heat might alter the colors of these inks.

3. CUT SOME WINDOWS INTO BACKGROUND PAPER

Pick FOUR different "letters" on the background and cut it out : one for your photo and three for your embossed papers.

4. ADD YOUR EMBOSSED PAPERS

I usually place them in the window and cut what's left over so that I can use what's left.

5. DECORATE AS DESIRED

I mainly decorated ON the embossed parts, as it will bring the eye and the focus on these pretties. Add a few tags, stickers, washi tape, your title and you're all set!
